About Me

I've been combining my passions for adventure and psychology as long as my brain can reconstruct...

From an early age I was exploring, getting lost in the undergrowth, going AWOL, getting up to mischief.  I seemed to be drawn to wander off the path and set my own course.

Many years later I undertook to study psychology and embarked on a research career...All the while I was pushing further out into the wilderness, climbing mountains, in the UK, the Alps, the Andes.  I took up SCUBA diving and travelled further afield, diving beneath ice, in the Arctic, abseiling with dive kit, looking for the next way to do things differently.

What ties all this together is my passion to understand how the brain works, how we can get the most out of life, and to make sense of the mindset that can help us prevail through challenges - sought out in the wild, and thrust upon us in life.

This blog site is a crucible of the learnings I have synthesised in this journey so far, combing the best of both worlds (inner and outer). My 'Adventure Psychology' philosophy and practice is laid out here.  My aim is to help people develop an 'Adventure Mindset' that enables an adaptable, resilient, productive and purposeful approach to living life to the full!
